Wi-Fi extender
A Wi-Fi extender, also called a repeater or booster, picks up your router’s signal and rebroadcasts it to reach further.
Also called: repeater, range extender
What it means for you
It can be a low-cost fix for one weak spot, but because it relays over the air it often reduces speed, and where you place it matters a lot. If you need coverage across the whole home, mesh or a wired access point is usually the better route.
