Ethernet
Ethernet is the standard for wired network connections, using a cable between devices, routers and switches.
What it means for you
A cable is faster and more dependable than Wi-Fi, so it is the best choice for streaming boxes, desktops, hubs, NVRs and mesh backhaul. Some smart home hubs, such as the Philips Hue Bridge, connect to your router by Ethernet.
