Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is the wireless technology that connects phones, laptops, cameras, plugs and other devices to your home network and the internet, usually through a router.
What it means for you
Nearly everything in a connected home depends on it, so a weak or crowded Wi-Fi signal shows up as dropped cameras, slow streaming and devices that go offline. Newer versions such as Wi-Fi 6, 6E and 7 add speed and capacity, but for most homes router placement and the right band matter more than the version number.
