Router
A router is the device that connects your home network to the internet and directs traffic between your devices, and it usually provides your Wi-Fi as well.
What it means for you
Your router, or your mesh system, decides your Wi-Fi coverage, network name and security settings. Many internet providers supply a gateway that combines a modem and a router, and you can add your own router or mesh behind it.
