5 GHz
5 GHz is a faster, shorter-range Wi-Fi band that suits phones, laptops, streaming devices and gaming.
What it means for you
It does not pass through walls as well as 2.4 GHz, so it works best in the same room or one or two walls from your router or mesh unit. Many smart home devices do not support it, so check each device before moving everything to 5 GHz.
