DHCP
DHCP is the service, usually built into your router, that automatically gives every device on your network an IP address.
What it means for you
It is why devices connect without any manual setup. Only one device on a network should act as the DHCP server, so a second router doing routing behind a gateway can cause conflicts, and a DHCP reservation can keep a camera or hub on the same address.
