VLAN
A VLAN (virtual LAN) splits one physical network into separate virtual networks, so groups of devices cannot talk to each other freely.
What it means for you
You rarely need to set one up yourself, because many home routers offer the same idea as a guest or IoT network. Advanced routers and managed switches let you create VLANs by hand, and some routers use the term in their settings.
