NVR (network video recorder)
An NVR (network video recorder) is a box or computer that records video from network cameras onto its own hard drive.
What it means for you
Wired PoE camera kits usually include one, so footage is stored at home rather than in a cloud plan, and you choose how much storage to add. Cameras must support the NVR’s system, so check compatibility before you mix brands.
