Passkey
A passkey is a sign-in method that replaces a password with a cryptographic key stored on your device and unlocked with your fingerprint, face or screen lock.
What it means for you
The FIDO Alliance describes passkeys as phishing-resistant, because they only work on the real website. Many sites let you keep your password as a backup, so you can adopt passkeys gradually; see our 2FA guide.
