Thread
Thread is a low-power wireless mesh network for smart home devices such as sensors and locks, and it can carry Matter.
What it means for you
Thread is not Wi-Fi and it does not replace your router. Thread devices need a Thread border router to reach your phone and the internet, and you may already own one among your Apple, Google or Amazon devices.
